2019 Dandi Mourvedre
We have been working with this grape, from this site since 2011 yet this is the first time we have purposefully produced a red wine. Give it a few moments to open up in the glass, or decant, and you will be rewarded with aromas of fresh strawberry, rhubarb, and Italian leather. On the palate, the wine is fresh and vibrant with just the right amount of Mourvedre "funk".
Like the Rose, this was also barrel fermented but received about 10% new French oak and spent a few months longer in barrel.
While the color may indicate it was done via "carbonic maceration", the wine was traditionally produced but in a style that promotes its freshness. Pair this with smoked meats, sausage, or Santa Maria style BBQ.
